Abbeyfield House – Saskatoon

The Abbeyfield House provides safe and affordable housing for ten independent seniors who choose to live in a family-style setting. Abbeyfield House offers companionship, security, personal space, independence and support for those seniors who do not wish to live alone. House coordinators prepare 2 meals per day and promote a caring and supportive environment.

Abbeyfield Saskatoon welcomed its first resident in November 2005. Full occupancy of ten independent residents was reached by June 2006. Abbeyfield Saskatoon is not a personal care home or a nursing home.

The spacious 6000 square foot bungalow faces the well-groomed Holiday Park. Our property is the entrance to the former Saskatoon Sanatorium with land for three houses.

Each resident has a bed-sitting room (approximately 216 square feet) and a three-piece ensuite with a walk-in shower. In addition to traditional common areas, the residents enjoy a solarium with morning and mid-day sun, walk-in jet tub in the common bathroom, craft room and laundry room. A large activity room and guest room are located on the lower level.

Current rent is $1450.00 per month.  Full cable and landline telephone are at the resident’s cost. Off street parking is available. Public transportation is located within one block.

A volunteer board oversees the operation and management of the house. House coordinators prepare home-cooked meals at lunch and supper and promote a caring and supportive environment during their day shift. Residents prepare their own morning meal at their leisure (breakfast food provided by the house). Night personnel are full-time residents who respond to emergencies during the night.
