Developer eyes Saskatoon's riverbank for new project

CBC News September 9, 2013 - B.C. based developer Chris Le Fevre has big ideas for Saskatoon’s riverbank. Tonight, Saskatoon city councillors will get the chance to ask Le Fevre about his large development project at River Landing, named ‘The Banks.'

The project would see a vacant Riversdale parking lot on 19th Street, next to the farmer’s market, transformed into a multi-million-dollar housing complex for hundreds of people and a few smaller businesses.

“I want this project to be part of the surrounding community and I think that’s very, very important,” says Le Fevre. “I think the surrounding community is in an embryonic stage of regeneration.”

Le Fevre says the project is not exclusive to the rich. He plans to sell more than half of the units for less than $200,000.

The project requires council approval. If all goes according to plan, it could begin as early as next spring.
