March 1, 2013 - A co-housing development for older adults opened Friday in Saskatoon. The Wolf Willows is the first enterprise of its kind in Saskatchewan, and in Canada.
The building is described as a “community under one roof”. Residents are owners and helped develop the project from the beginning. They get their own unit, but they share a large kitchen, dining room, and many activity rooms.
“One of the practical things we try to do is reduce our own personal living space. So many of us have moved here from houses or smaller apartments,” said Dave Glaze, one of Wolf Willow’s residents.
The building is also energy efficient, and helps the group reduce their environmental footprint.
There are 21 units in total, and two are still available.
