Housing First: Research, Benefits and Challenges

Housing First.  What is it exactly?

The term is used very loosely as the opposite of traditional services for homeless people (emergency shelters, transitional programs). There are certain claims made about ending homelessness and saving taxpayers’ money through using a Housing First approach. This research piece investigates these claims, reviews what has been done, and focuses on the benefits and challenges to this relatively new approach to homelessness.
