Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership
Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) is a multifaceted organization that plays an instrumental role in both affordable housing, and solutions around homelessness in our community. At SHIP, we work to provide consultation and research services, and front-line support to groups developing affordable housing. We raise awareness about the need for affordable housing and research innovative policy solutions.
To address homelessness, we collaborate with multiple agencies across our city, and all levels of government, with one simple goal: To end homelessness in Saskatoon.
Since 2012, we've developed and funded homelessness solutions through the Homelessness Partnering Strategy funding that we manage as the community entity on behalf of the Government of Canada.
We are also the lead agency that works to implement the Saskatoon Homelessness Action Plan. This plan was developed over several years through consultation in our community. As a part of this plan we work together with the community to identify emerging needs and gaps in support that contribute to the problem of homelessness.
Since 2012 we have invested over 5.7 million dollars in housing and homelessness in our community. This year we invested approximately one million in housing location and support programs.
Building on existing services to identify gaps, many great new initiatives have been started including:
Housing First, at White Buffalo Youth Lodge, YWCA Saskatoon Indian and Metis Friendship Centre, and Saskatoon Crisis.
Centralized Intake and Rapid Rehousing, at Saskatoon Indian and Metis Friendship Centre.

SHIP provides leadership to foster creative housing solutions by engaging developers, builders, lenders, and housing providers.
